CKF Systems have recently completed the successful commissioning of a case conveying system for an American multinational food, snack and beverage corporation within their UK manufacturing facility.
The brand new CKF system accommodates a total throughput of 35 cases per minute spread over five lines. CKF manufacture their own range of 24V conveyors utilising the Interroll DC platform which have been installed throughout this system. The case feed, merges all five production lines onto a single conveyor using a “virtual pocket,” created and tracked by an encoded reference to the control PLC.
A case twister is integrated into the CKF system, the machine, having two pairs of drive belts, is required to invert the cases 180°. An innovative conveyor for inline rotating of cases and other utilized loads, its concept is a great solution in packaging lines where products need to be rotated upside down or to one side at line speed without product damage. For safety, the Twister is enclosed within a safety enclosure, with interlocked access.
Once inverted, the case transfers from the Twister, through check-weighing, coding and onto a switch unit complete with a bar code reader. This identifies and sorts the mix of cases to one of two palletising lines. The system includes a reject facility for any incorrect weight cases.
The installation and commissioning of the system was completed by the CKF Engineering team during the clients planned production outage.
